SIPR supports 9th Strathclyde International Perspectives on Cybercrime Summer School
SIPR was pleased to support the 9th Strathclyde International Perspectives on Cybercrime Summer School, which brought together an international community of students, researchers, practitioners and law enforcement professionals at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow from 24–28 August 2026.
The sold-out Summer School attracted 92 registrations, with more than 70 participants attending each day. Attendees ranged from undergraduate, MSc and PhD students to academics, industry practitioners and law enforcement professionals.
The event also had a strong international dimension, including significant cohorts from Simon Fraser University in Canada, OTH Amberg-Weiden and HAW Kiel in Germany, alongside participants from across the UK.
SIPR provided sponsorship for the Summer School alongside SPRITE+, CRANE and RISCS. This support helped enable participation for attendees who may otherwise have been unable to take part.
Five days of research, learning and collaboration
The programme began with a one-day research symposium followed by four days of lectures and workshops, with contributions from 28 speakers.
Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of cybercrime and cybersecurity research, sessions explored a wide range of topics, including verifying security protocols, using Rust programming to write secure code, the security of Critical National Infrastructure, local government authentication practices, ethical hacking and the psychology of cybercriminals.
The breadth of the programme provided opportunities for participants from different academic, professional and disciplinary backgrounds to learn from one another and develop new connections.
Feedback from attendees was extremely positive, with participants describing the Summer School as “a great experience” and highlighting the value of the topics and insights shared for their own research.
The event continues a long-running programme of international collaboration around cybercrime research at the University of Strathclyde which SIPR has supported over a number of years.
Looking ahead to 2027
The 10th Strathclyde International Perspectives on Cybercrime Summer School will take place from 23–27 August 2027.
