New Research Funding Opportunity: £15,000 Grant Call Now Open

What if stronger trust, smarter partnerships, and better information flows are the foundations of safer communities?

The Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR), in collaboration with Police Scotland, has launched a new Responsive Research Fund call: “From Community Tension Towards Safer Communities.”

This funding opportunity invites researchers to develop practical, evidence-led solutions to some of today’s most urgent challenges, including community tensions, hatred, misinformation, and threats to cohesion.

Priority areas include:

• How formal and informal networks can support community tensions monitoring

• How policing can work proactively with communities to address misinformation

• How trusted relationships can be strengthened locally

• How to respond to real-time online and offline threats to community cohesion

Funding available: £15,000 for one successful team.
Notification of intent deadline: 8 May 2026
Full application deadline: 29 May 2026
Latest project start date: 31 July 2026
