2026 SPACE Research & Knowledge Exchange Funding Call Now Open

We are pleased to share the 2026 funding call from the UKRI funded Scottish Policing Academic Centre of Excellence (SPACE).

This call has been developed in collaboration with key stakeholders across the themes of Safety, Prevention and Analytics, and approved by the SPACE Management Committee.

Funding available:

• £110,000 for Research projects (up to £30,000 per project; 80% FEC)
• £10,000 for Knowledge Exchange & Impact activities (up to £2,500 per award; 80% FEC)

Key dates:

• Expression of Interest: 25 March 2026
• Full Application: 7 May 2026
• Projects to begin by 28 August 2026

The Principal Investigator must be based at a SPACE University:

Edinburgh Napier University
Glasgow Caledonian University
University of St Andrews
University of Edinburgh

Early Career Researchers are particularly encouraged to apply.

If your proposal requires access to Police Scotland data or personnel, please engage early with the Police Scotland Research and Insight Team (minimum three weeks’ notice required).
