Scottish Institute for Policing Research

SIPR Appoints Dr Inga Heyman as Impact and Engagement Lead for the period May 2026 to September 2027.

This role has been created to support SIPR’s continued development and to strengthen its engagement, visibility, and strategic partnerships across Scotland. Working closely with Scottish Higher Education Institutions, the The Scottish Government, Police Scotland, and wider stakeholders, Dr Heyman will help further develop collaborative relationships that support high-quality research, knowledge exchange, and evidence-informed policing policy and practice.

The role will focus on increasing engagement with universities across Scotland, encouraging participation in SIPR research networks, funding calls, and collaborative activity. It will also support constructive engagement with government and sector partners to ensure SIPR’s work continues to align with national priorities and contributes to policy development.

A further key aspect of the role will be supporting the development of SIPR’s future funding arrangements, helping to identify strategic opportunities for growth, sustainability, and long-term impact.

In addition, Dr Heyman will work with SIPR partners to assess, evidence, and communicate the impact of SIPR-supported research, ensuring that contributions to policing practice, public policy, and academic collaboration are clearly demonstrated and shared.

We look forward to working with Dr Heyman in progressing this important area of SIPR’s activity over the coming months. 👏
